Sydney Wedding Blog: Wedding Venues

Tell us about your venue. How long have you been holding weddings and how many weddings do you hold per year?

Dunes Restaurant used to be an old cottage that was rented out. 12 years ago it was converted into a restaurant & kiosk. The venue has been hosting weddings for the past 10 years. We currently hold approximately 30 weddings here each year.

Why should a couple consider your venue over other venues?

Dunes Restaurant is like no other for the following reasons:
* we have an Italian marquee permanently attached to our restaurant which enables us to open all sides of the venue (weather permitting). So whilst guests are seated undercover it nonetheless feel like being outdoors.
* on 3 sides of the restaurant we have outdoor areas guests can stroll out to, to enjoy their pre-dinner canapes and arrival bellinis. There is simply so much space.
* The fact that we also have a kiosk next door allows us to offer couples everything in the same spot- ceremony (in the restaurant courtyard area), drinks and nibble platters for the guests (in the kiosk prior to reception whilst the wedding couple is busy with pictures), followed by the indoor reception. Also due to no neighbours we have no noise restrictions and couples can extend their night with music until 12am.

What’s the first thing brides usually ask when they come and see you?

How many can you seat- We can sit up to 140 guests including a dance floor

Do you have a wet weather option- for a wet weather option we can either offer our kiosk or the restaurant 30 minutes prior to reception time

Is there a separate venue hire- No the venue hire is included in the per head spend

What size functions can you hold/host?

Sit down 140 with dance floor. Cocktail style 200 plus dance floor.

Can the ceremony be held at your venue?

Yes in our outdoor courtyard area.

Are the couple free to decorate as they like?

As long as nothing damages the venue the couple can decorate how they would like to.

If your venue is outdoors is there a backup space in case of rain?

It is an indoor reception venue with kiosk wet weather backup for ceremony.

Could you give our readers some indication of the range of prices for hiring your venue?

Per head charge roughly between $120 - $200 (inclusive of beverage packages)

How early do couples need to book you?

We usually book out around 12 months prior.

What time at night can weddings stay at your venue?

12am

Do you offer accommodation options?
